Restaurant Jaffa
I like middle-eastern and Mediterranean cuisine so I’m always on the lookout for places in the centre of town that may not always be visible on the main streets. I first added Jaffa to the site as an option for visitors who require Halal food but it’s equally as attractive to vegetarians, grilled food fans or people who like Arabic and/or Lebanese food.
Why I Like Jaffa
Two reasons really. Great food and great service. You have the option of eating outside in the open-air courtyard/garden in warmer weather or in the covered surrounding.
What Do I Recommend?
This will vary based on your knowledge of Arabic food. For example, on my first visit here we selected a “platter” or what they call the “Jaffa Maze”. It’s a typical “try several things on the menu” sort of non-meat meal served with pitta bread. Once you get a bit more knowledgeable then you can go for specific meals. Personally I like all of the Hummus and Arabic salad options. Lately I’ve tried the Mix grill for one (that you can combine with a salad and makes an excellent starter for two) which is a mix of chicken and lamb but honestly on my own I tend towards the grilled lamb in this type of place purely because it’s not common in Czech restaurants.
Where is it?
It’s in a shopping centre just 200 metres from the bottom of Wenceslas Square. But this is not a restaurant on a food floor. It sits in the corner of the ground floor. So from either entry to the Černa Ruze shopping centre just walk to the end and you’ll find it.
