Prague Airport Transfer options
This page covers only the airport transfer options. If you want information about a specific terminal then check my Terminal 1 page first. Prague airport (Ruzyne) is located about 20km from central Prague. It connects with the public bus service and there are private bus options as well. Your hotel may also offer it's own transfer option. Below are listed all other current Prague-based options for transfer from Prague airport to the centre.
TAXIS
AAA Taxi - This is the biggest taxi company in Prague and also has the airport pickup contract as well. AAA has booths in both Prague airport terminals and provides a regular Prague city taxi service. The luggage charge is included in the price. These cars are gradually all being sprayed yellow for easy identification. They have fixed rates from the airport and currently Wenceslas Square is @550kc. No need to book in advance.
.... great to get to the hotel without being ripped off ....
PRAGUE AIRPORT CARS
These are taxi's that can only be hailed at the airport. They are parked outside the arrival halls of both terminals and are clearly marked with "Passenger Transport" signs on the sides. These will charge between 150kc and 800kc (for most of Prague although travel to Pruhonice will cost 1200kc). Depending on what part of the the city you travel to most of the New Town is in the 650-700kc range and Mala Strana is currently 600kc. For a price, just speak to the taxi supervisor rep inside the Arrivals area and tell them the name of your hotel. This info is also on the "stop" post outside on the road. You get a ticket with the details and 20% off the return trip. No need to book in advance.
MINIBUS (Private and Scheduled)
CEDAZ Prague airport regular shuttle service.
CEDAZ vans run every 30 minutes from 0530 to 2130 between Prague airport and the city centre (Namesti Republiky - CSA office) for 120 Kc. They can also take you to Dejvicka metro station for 90kc. Depending on the time of day, it takes about 30 minutes and the van is comfortable although you may have to wait a little bit if there is a crowd. Tickets are available from the CEDAZ booths in both terminal arrival halls. You cannot book this service in advance. To check the latest prices their webpage is at www.cedaz.cz.
CEDAZ Prague airport Hotel Transfer
This has three options:
1) Four people to one hotel (central Prague with luggage) for 480kc.
2) Eight people i.e. a whole van to one hotel (central Prague with luggage) for 960kc.
3) One to Eight people i.e. a whole van to one hotel (outside central Prague with luggage) for 960kc.
You can make arrangements in advance or wait until you get to the airport as they allow extra vans. If you book a return journey (return must be paid in cash) then currently it costs 400kc (up to 4 people from central Prague) or 800kc (up to 8 people from central Prague or up to 4 people from outside central Prague).
SMART SHUTTLE
This is linked to the Smart Wings airline but you don't get any discount. Prices are similar to the CEDAZ hotel service (actually it's two euros cheaper for one-way). It only has a booth in Prague airport Terminal North 1. It's best to book in advance at www.smartshuttle.net
PRAGUE AIRPORT SHUTTLE
Prague Airport Shuttle has grown considerably since I first recommended it. It's still a minibus service but they operate NO-SHARE i.e. you are not delayed because they are waiting for another pickup. You arrive (they wait if your flight is delayed), meet the driver at the arranged meeting point, drive to your Prague Hotel. You don't pay any deposit but the fare is charged in cash. They give you a free map and the driver will pass on a few tips along the way. I still recommend only this one.
MINIBUS PRAGUE
This is similar to the CEDAZ hotel service if there are three or less people. If there are 4 or more then it's the most expensive option for minibuses. Again similar to the CEDAZ hotel service in that it will wait for the minibus to fill up before leaving the airport. Their Prague Airport transfer webpage is at www.minibusprague.cz.
ATP
Airport Transfer Prague (ATP) is a newcomer to the airport. Currently it provides the cheapest one-way transfer option to central Prague with a fixed distance rate up to 30km and they have a NO-SHARE policy (you have the vehicle to yourself). If you are travelling as a group then check their minibus options and they have a coach as well. Pay online before you come or else it's pay the driver cash/credit. Best to get written confirmation from them. Their Prague Airport transfer webpage is at www.airport-transfer-prague.cz.
PUBLIC BUS SERVICE (DPP)
Use the
timetable page to generate the latest bus timetables. Do not forget to buy a 26Kc ticket from the news-stand, DPP desk or from the yellow machine at the bus stop. You should also buy and validate a 13kc ticket for any suitcase or large rucksack.
Note that if you buy a 24 hour pass or higher i.e. 3 day, 7 day etc then you do not need to buy a separate luggage ticket as you are allowed one over standard piece per pass. The bus stops are just outside the arrivals halls of both terminals. Warning: both bus routes attract pickpockets although this affects the 119 more than the 100 because it is usually more crowded etc. After the day bus service ends there is a night service bus but this means you must transfer onto a night tram as well. If you are arriving in Prague after 2300 then the last day-buses depart around 2350. After that the night bus 510 takes over and it only goes to the Divoka-Sarka tramstop. You then have to transfer to the 51 tram to get to Dejvicka and/or the centrum.
Bus No.119. Runs approx every 15 minutes from 4:30 am to 11:30 pm between Prague airport and metro station Dejvicka (green line - it takes about 20 minutes) suitable for metro stops in the centre like Mustek (Wenceslas Square), Staromestska (Old Town Square), Namesti Miru (Vinohrady) and Museum (Wenceslas Square).
Bus No.100 runs from the airport to the yellow line station at Zlicin and takes 14 mins. This line is best for stops like Florenc (bus terminal), Andel (bus terminal), Namesti Republiky, Mustek, Narodni and Karlovo Namesti.
PRIVATE COACH
Prague Airport Express. This is an option for people who intend using public transport but, do not want to take the "pickpocket prone" 119. The Airport Express is not public, you pay @50kc to the driver and you are taken direct on a 35 minute trip to the Holesovice Train Station. This station connects to the Prague Metro system on the red line. Runs every 30 mins from 0915 to 2215. Stops are located outside of both terminals listed as "AE". There is no extra cost for luggage.
PRIVATE CARS
Chauffeur.cz is a small company with a guy whose family has a long history in the taxi/chauffeur business. He operates a flat rate system which means if your hotel is 20km or less from Prague Airport then the cost is fixed @600Kc which covers the Castle area, Mala Strana, Ujezd, Andel and some of the Old Town. If you go over 20km you add a charge per km extra so most of the New Town would be between 600-700Kc. Their webpage is at www.chauffeur.cz.
Mike-chauffeur.cz is a small company offering taxi/chauffeur services which cover the whole country but that include Prague airport pickups as well. You order online and select the type of transport you want i.e. sedan, minibus etc and pay when you get here. Same price as Prague Airport Shuttle but please note that if you pay by credit card there is an extra 4% charge. Their webpage is at www.mike-chauffeur.cz.
