The Lucerna Music Bar is part of the larger Lucerna Palace complex. With a capacity of around 1000 people spread over a main stage floor and an upper balcony floor it’s a great venue for locals and tourists.

How a Tourist Uses the Lucerna Music Bar

You may be following a band and have tickets for a specific night but in general the two most popular nights for tourists are Friday and Saturday. Since the year 2000 it has run “DJ Jirka Neumann’s 80s/90s video night” every weekend and man alive! it’s popular. Turn up after 9pm, pay at the door and the music begins at 10pm. I’d be giving away my age if I said how many of the songs I know the words to but the surprise is that all the young kids know the words as well. These are the classics of the era and these are the only nights when the stage area is also part of the available dancefloor. At the time of writing entry to Jirka Neumann’s was CZK150.

Same as above but we are more likely to attend single events. I’ll often look at the program if I’m passing the club to see who’s on stage that month. It’s a really eclectic mix so I might be here for Chumbwomba one night, Inhaler the next or maybe a Czech reggae band. Except for Friday/Saturday where you pay at the door the Lucerna Music Bar will require you to buy tickets online direct or via a company called GoOut. There’s no difference in price. The GoOut option is mainly for locals who use it regularly as you create an account to save details and it’s faster than booking direct. I don’t generally pay more than CZK1100 for a ticket here.

The Lucerna Cafe Bar

If you are looking for a pre-event drink/meal or a post-event drink meal then Lucerna recently added there own bar/cafe. It’s following the business model of being more cafe from 0900-1700 and then switches to being more like a bar until it closes. On Friday and Saturday that means closing at 3am the following morning making it the latest opening cafe in the city!
