Alriso appears on this site as a restaurant recommendation for people that have a Gluten Free requirement because all food here is 100% Gluten Free but it’s also a nice place to visit in a very pleasant square. Read the name carefully and you’ll see that it is a Risotteria and NOT a Pizzeria. Here are a few tips.

Alriso sits on Bethlehem Square where you’ll find three other restaurants serving Czech/international cuisine. There are three parts to the Alriso restaurant. Firstly during the summer season April-October it has first-come-first-served external seating along the front of the restaurant. Secondly it has a small ground floor area. Lastly it has a larger basement area but you have to be ok with all the steps getting up and down from here.

I like the basement which has an associated bar but here’s a tip you’ll want to know. Monday to Friday this place effectively has two menus. One is the a la carte with the main offer which is what you are given when you sit down. The other is the weekday lunch menu which has smaller portions so it’s cheaper and faster to be served. Normally the lunch menu is a piece of paper which falls out of the main menu but here you have to ask for it. You see the Czech lunch menu is not often translated so it’s really only for Czechs although on my last visit here the waiter offered to translate AFTER I’d asked for the lunch menu. To explain the difference let’s take their Penne Al Forno which is Penne mixed with beef sirloin plus cherry tomatoes and rukola. The full menu portion costs CZK425 but on the lunch menu between 1100 and 1500 the reduced portion is CZK210.

As you might expect with an Italian name like Alriso there is a specialism for risotto here but you’ll find a nice Italian selection of meat, pasta and seafood but NO PIZZA!!
