Mystic Skate Park

Not everybody comes to Prague for the history and culture. Czechs are very sporty people and there is a wide range of sports activities being participated in throughout the city. One of them is the Mystic Skate Park.

Mystic Skate Park in Prague is one of nearly 80 skate parks in the country created by “Mystic Constructions” but it’s one of the covered venues so it’s in use all year round for skateboaders, in-line skaters, scooters and BMX bikers.

The skate park is designed to be used by people aged 12 and above. That doesn’t stop younger kids i.e. from 6, to try the activity but between 6 and 12 they have to be accompanied by a parent.

The Four Seasons of the Mystic Skate Park in Prague

Mystic Skate Park opens all-year but operates four seasons. The one you need to be aware of is the summer season when the skate park is open to the public only after 5pm. This is because they run weekday summer camps for children during the day. At the time of writing the cost for a day for skaters/scooters was CZK60 and for BMX riders it was CZK100.

Safety Requirements

BMX bikes have to be DIN 79105 i.e. fitted with plastic pegs and plastic handlebar end covers to prevent damage to the course.
Children between 6 and 11 must wear a helmet when on the course.
People aged 12 or over do not need to wear a helmet although it is advised.
When using the “Bowl” wearing a helmet is mandatory for everybody.

Štvanice Island

Mystic Skate Park on located on an island so it’s accessed by driving/walking from the New Town side of the river at Florenc going in the direction of Holešovice. The island has an associated tennis club, bikepark (concrete/external), volleyball courts and public tennis courts. The waterway hosts surfing and kayaking competitions so there’s generally something going on during the summer months.

Mystic Skate Cup

As it is a covered site it was constructed in wood not concrete. This has made the Mystic Skate Park very attractive for skate/bike competitions and the venue has regularly hosted National, European and World skating events over the last 20 years. So they’ll be closed to the public during these competitions and to get access you need to buy tickets. Specifically, the Mystic Skate Cup (often referred to as Mystic Sk8 Cup) is usually a 3-day festival at the end of June.
