Merry Month of March

Photo: The bookshop at the Church of Our Lady of Snows in March 2016

Weather forecast for the month usually shows high pressure but one thing is for sure in that it can get windy. On a sunny day that will make you feel chilly but on an overcast day the windchill will be noticeable especially in the shade. So March doesn't require winter clothing very often but it does require a windproof jacket if you can bring one. Now having said that, it's quite possible for late March to get up to the mid/high 20 degrees celsius level during the day but still chilly in the evenings.  This is probably the last month where you'll see hot drinks on the chalk boards so don't forget to check the Six Hot Alcoholic Drinks post.  The parks and gardens are still closed so concentrate on Museums, Galleries, Bars and Restaurants.

The Czech version of Mardi Gras just with more clothes. Masopust runs until March 6th (Ash Wednesday). Look out for street posters or do a Google "Masopust 2019 Prague" search.

Man's Best Friend
Of the 83,297 registered dogs in Prague the name "Ben" is most popular. This followed by Max, Betty, Bara and Nelly.

Blast from the Past
January saw the most recent archaeological research of what's left of the Judith Bridge. Everybody knows the Charles Bridge but not many know that it's built mainly from stone taken from the Judith Bridge which  was located less than 20 metres upstream from the current bridge. Some of the bridge piles are still there.

Lucky Puck
The NHL announced that it's inaugural game of the 2019-20 ice hockey season would be at the Prague O2 Arena in October.

Art Reduction
In 2013 the city passed the "Street Art Decree" which was aimed at registering and controlling the rules around acoustic street busking. This will now be amended to include non-acoustic busking like "spray painted characters", "gravity-defying characters", all kinds of soft animal characters and bubble blowers.
