June, Sun and Fun

Photo: Prague Food Festival

Whereas May had the cool mornings, June starts off warm and you'll definitely want to put water and sun cream in the bag. Take care when eating outside in direct sunlight because you will get burned. Add salt to food to replenish what you are losing.

Old Town Hall Renovation

The Calendarium has now been removed for renovation. The tower is now closed for renovation. At the time of writing the "Apostle march" was still working and the Astronomical Clock was still in place and working for the hourly procession. So we can expect this to be fully back up and working by September 2018.

Kozel Beer Festival

This is a one day festival on Saturday June 10th just to the south of Prague. Free to enter but you'll need to take a train to get there. Good food and great music in a fun atmosphere. More on the Den Kozel page.

Prague Proms

Prague Proms starts on June 21st and runs until July 19th. It's an eclectic mix of local Czech music, big-band, classical and jazz music. Not as many venues as the Prague International Music Festival but look out for places like the Classical Smetana Concert Hall showing big-band swing and jazz. More on the Prague Proms page.

Prague Spring International Music Festival

The first week of June sees the last week of this festival. It's been very popular this year.

United Islands of Prague

The biggest open-air "free to enter" music festival in the city. that takes over several parks and gardens. The open-air part starts on Friday 23rd but remember that the 22nd is called "club night" when many of Prague's music club venues allow free entry to see mostly local bands. Ends on the 25th. This is one of my page picks below.

Metronomefest

On the weekend of June 24th-25th the Metronomefest takes over a large part of the Exhibition grounds and Stromovka Park. This is paid-entry and when you buy a ticket you are buying entry to both days. The headline act on Saturday 24th will be Sting and the support act is Kasabian but the whole weekend is loaded with Czech and international bands. This is one of my page picks below.

What's Been Happening on the Site

I introduced a new partner onto the site. I've seen the Beer Bike roaming around the city and it's clear that people are having a great time pedaling around the city. It's made for groups of between 10-15 (men and/or women) which brings down the overall cost. More on the Beer Bike page

I thought that I would let people know what apps I regularly use as I navigate the city. All of these apps are either English language or require very limited Czech like addresses etc. Prague Apps are one of my page picks below.

In the May newsletter I described what I thought would be at the Prague Food Festival. After I came back I put together a short 6 minute video of what we experienced so you can view that on my You Tube Channel Prague Food Festival video.

Wishing you all a great June. Feel free to follow, share and leave comments about my content. My 3 page picks from this month are below.
